Our journey began with a simple realization: every hospitality business faces two common challenges. First: the dreaded “86” moment – running out of a crucial product at the worst possible time. It’s a frustration that can disrupt service, disappoint customers, and cost businesses revenue. Second: there’s the issue of deadstock inventory – products sitting on shelves & taking up valuable space, with no convenient way to sell them.
As hospitality industry veterans, we’ve experienced these challenges firsthand. We’ve felt the stress of scrambling to replenish stock amid a busy shift, and we’ve seen perfectly good inventory go to waste because there was no easy avenue to sell it. That’s why we decided to take matters into our own hands and create a solution that addresses these pain points head-on. Jeremy Fitzgerald is an accomplished entrepreneur in hospitality with roots in the industry from a young age. Growing up with a father who owned multiple prominent venues in Put-in-Bay, Ohio, including Mr. Ed’s and Commodore Resorts, Jeremy gained valuable hands-on experience early on. By 19, he was managing his father’s operations, enhancing his expertise through a degree in Hospitality from BGSU. At 23, he launched his first Subway franchise, demonstrating his business acumen. In 2011, he established Bar 145, growing it into a successful franchise with multiple locations.
In 2021, Jeremy sold his restaurant shares to pursue new ventures, acquiring the Commodore Perry Inn and Mr. Ed’s Bar in Port Clinton and later opening Fast Eddies Sports Bar. Additionally, as a franchise owner of a small pizza chain called Cameo Pizza. Now, as Founder and CEO of 86 Dead Stock, he aims to transform dead stock management in hospitality, creating a platform that fosters community and offers efficient solutions for inventory challenges. His dedication to innovation and service defines his journey in the industry.
